AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), on Thursday visited the army’s General Command to check on preparedness for the war against terror, a Royal Court statement said.

The visit was the first activity by His Majesty upon arrival from the US, where he addressed the UN General Assembly and Security Council and met with world leaders over regional developments and bilateral ties.

The Monarch was received by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben and HRH Prince Feisal.

The King checked on the army’s preparedness to defend the country’s security and stability in line with Jordan’s position within the US-led coalition against terrorist organisations.

The government on Tuesday confirmed that Royal Jordanian Air Force’s warplanes had participated in US-led air strikes against the Islamic State in Syria, as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to defeat terrorism in its stronghold.

His Majesty also stressed that a stable Jordan is the key to the region’s stability, voicing the Kingdom’s determination to combat and corner terrorists.

Zaben presented a briefing on the JAF’s operational, logistic and administrative plans to face all dangers and challenges, stressing that the military is highly prepared to defend the country and its people.
