AMMAN – His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday sent a cable to the French President Francois Holande in which he condemned the “cowardly terrorist attack” which took place on Thursday night in Nice and killed and injured tens of innocent people, a statement form the Royal Court said.

His Majesty expressed his utter denunciation of the “shocking terrorist act”,  stressing Jordan's solidarity with France and its people and leadership.

Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said that Jordan strongly condemns this "barbarous attack" which, again, “underlines the inhumane approach of the terrorists who target innocents and threaten global security and stability”.

Foreign Affairs Ministry on Friday asserted that it is in contact with the French authorities and the Jordanian embassy in Paris to follow up on any possible Jordanian casualties among the victims of the terror attack, noting that the French authorities had not announced the nationalities of the victims by the time of this statement.

The ministry also called on Jordanians in Nice to contact the embassy, in case they need help, on the following numbers: ministry operation unit 0096265735166, ministry phone centre 0096265501444, Jordanian embassy in Paris 0033642148221, 0033659387721, 0033155620000
