King congratulates nation on religious occasion

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday congratulated the nation on the anniversary of Al Israa wal Miraj.
According to the Islamic tradition, the anniversary marks Prophet Mohammad’s night journey to Jerusalem and ascension from there to heaven.
His Majesty tweeted: “Congratulating the Arab & Islamic world on the anniversary of Al [Israa wal] Miraj. May Allah Almighty bring peace & prosperity upon us all.” #ABH.
Islamic sources indicate that the journey took place during a single night around the year 621AD, during which the five prayers were imposed as a daily religious duty for Muslims.
It has been described as both a physical and spiritual journey and one of the major miracles of Prophet Mohammad.
