AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday voiced his pride in the advanced level of top achievers in the various Tawjihi academic streams.

Receiving excelling General Secondary Education Certificate examination graduates at Al Husseiniya Palace, along with Her Majesty Queen Rania, the King commended the students’ performance and their parents’ support in helping them achieve a high level of excellence.

At the meeting, held in honour of the exam’s top achievers, King Abdullah said this success is a first step that should be built upon in order to have creative Jordanian capabilities and manpower that support the country’s drive towards development.

He underscored the role of students’ families in providing an appropriate study environment for them and helping them to achieve their academic goals.

The King and the Queen spoke with the students, who shared their academic aspirations.

Expressing her happiness and satisfaction that the top achievers were from different parts of the Kingdom, Queen Rania said this means that qualitative learning is not just confined to schools in the capital.

It also shows that distinction and persistence are not restricted to a specific area or place, she noted, commending the role of the students’ families.

The high school graduates and their accompanying family members thanked the King and Queen for the Royal gesture, noting that it reflects their ongoing care for students.

The excelling students, who were presented with awards at the event, said their meeting with the King and Queen represents motivation for them to work harder and achieve further academic excellence.

The top achievers include Iraqi student Mariam Bayati, who came first in the science stream and said that her dream had become a reality.

Saeed Suleiman, who was first in the industrial stream, attributed his success to the fact that he chose this line of study.

For Maria Omar, who graduated from a school in the northern Jordan Valley, her top ranking in the domestic economy stream was the fruit of a strong will, time management and a strong desire to succeed and take on challenges.
