King receives call from Mozambique president

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday received a phone call from Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi, which covered bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern.
King Abdullah congratulated President Nyusi on his country’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, according to a Royal Court statement.
Discussions also covered means to bolster coordination and cooperation in fighting terrorism within a holistic approach, as well as the importance of building on the outcomes of the fifth round of the Aqaba Process meetings on East Africa held in Aqaba in March, with the participation of Mozambique.
The Aqaba Process initiative, launched in 2015 by His Majesty, is aimed at enhancing security and military coordination and cooperation, as well as the exchange of expertise and information, among regional and international stakeholders in countering terrorism and extremism.
