King, Saudi monarch ‘keen on expanding cooperation’

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah and Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz on Tuesday held talks in Riyadh that focused on the “historic and brotherly” ties and the latest regional developments.

King Abdullah and King Salman, during the discussions attended by senior officials from both sides, expressed their “pride in the advanced level” the Jordanian-Saudi relations have reached, voicing keenness to expand cooperation at various levels, according to a Royal Court statement. 

Talks also focused on the importance of sustaining coordination and consultation on various issues to serve the interests of both countries and peoples, and the interests of the Arab nation and its just causes.

His Majesty reiterated Jordan’s stance in standing with Saudi Arabia under all circumstances, expressing his appreciation of Riyadh’s efforts in supporting joint Arab action and enhancing opportunities for realising peace in the region. 

Discussions also reviewed the overall challenges and crises in the region and endeavours to reaching political solutions to them, in a way that can contribute to restoring security and stability in the Middle East.

King Salman held a lunch banquet in honour of King Abdullah and other officials from the UAE, Pakistan and Ethiopia. 

Also on Tuesday, His Majesty met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman on the sidelines of Future Investment Initiative 2018 conference, which opened in Riyadh on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they “stressed the solid fraternal ties binding Jordan and Saudi Arabia and their keenness to broaden the scope of cooperation in all fields”, the Royal Court said.

King Abdullah and the Saudi crown prince attended a session on the future of technology. 

HRH Prince Faisal was sworn in as Regent, in the presence of Cabinet members.
