Kuwaiti fund ‘willing to help Jordan overcome economic difficulties’

AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and State Minister for Economic Affairs Mohamad Al-Ississ and Director General of the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development Abdulwahab Ahmad Al Bader on Sunday discussed means to boost bilateral ties between the two countries.

Ississ highlighted the importance of enhancing Jordanian-Kuwaiti relations in various fields, mainly in the economic sector, expressing the Kingdom’s aspirations to always improve cooperation ties with Kuwait, according to a ministry statement.

The minister also expressed the government’s appreciation for the continuous Kuwaiti support that has been delivered to Jordan throughout the long years of distinguished and solid bilateral relations.

In this regard, he praised the Kuwaiti support to Jordan, where the Gulf country’s assistance has played a positive role in financing several projects and development initiatives of priority in many vital sectors, such as the industrial, mining, energy, water, infrastructure, health and education sectors.

The Kuwaiti fund is a main partner for supporting the development efforts in the Kingdom through its administration to implement the Kuwaiti contributions in the Gulf grant and the Mecca summit, Ississ added.

He also said that the fund has contributed to financing 26 projects that have economic and social priority during the period 1962-2019.

For his part, Bader commended the distinguished ties between the fund and the Kingdom, expressing the fund’s willingness to support Jordan and help it overcome current crises.

He also praised the “considerable” efforts the government has exerted to implement schemes financed by the fund and presented from the Gulf state.
