Labour Ministry warns against unlicensed recruitment offices

AMMAN –  The Labour Ministry on Monday warned citizens seeking jobs in the Kingdom and abroad against dealing with unlicensed recruitment offices, according to an informed official. 

The ministry has recently tracked down a number of illegal recruitment and consultancy companies that claim to offer work opportunities in Jordan and abroad in exchange for money, ministry spokesperson, Mohammad Khatib, told The Jordan Times. 

“We have received complaints from citizens who fell prey to unlicensed companies that ask people for money when submitting their CVs,” he noted. 

To this effect, the ministry on Monday posted on its website the names, phone numbers and addresses of 74 licensed recruitment agencies.

Article 10 of the Labour Ministry prohibits receiving any fees, unless when providing a “genuine” job opportunity, while Article 11 bans unlicensed companies from providing recruitment and job consultancy services. 

“Citizens can report any complaints in this regard to us directly on the ministry’s website,” Khatib said, adding that complaints can also be reported on the ministry’s other official media sites or by phone on 06/5802666.
