AMMAN — The 2016 by-law outlining the mechanism of the government’s financial support for political parties on Tuesday was published in the Official Gazette under the Political Parties Law endorsed last year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Under the by-law, eligible political parties will receive JD50,000 in annual financial support from the government and an additional JD2,000 for each member who wins a Lower House seat.
The support for Lower House seats is capped at five members. Political and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Yousef Shawarbeh said a political party could receive annual funding amounting up to JD100,000 if the by-law’s conditions are met.
