Livestock population rises by 13.8 per cent — DoS

AMMAN — The number of sheep and goats in Jordan rose by 13.8 per cent to 4.306 million last winter, compared with the previous year, according to a livestock census conducted by the Department of Statistics (DoS).The department compared the livestock population between November 2015 - March 2016, and November 2014 - March 2015.
The number of sheep increased from 2.846 million to 3.261 million while the number of goats rose from 939,000 to 1.044 million, DoS said in a statement. Meanwhile, livestock birth rates declined by 0.4 per cent over the same period, from 2.219 million to 2.210 million, the department said.
