AMMAN — A low-cost flight from London to Jordan on Saturday landed at the King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba, marking the beginning of a number of direct flights to Aqaba from London.

The flight, operated by EasyJet, had 185 tourists aboard, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, said that the plane’s arrival comes in cooperation with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, as these airlines are expected to contribute to increasing tourism to Aqaba and the triumvirate of Aqaba, Petra and Wadi Rum as well as the rest of the tourist sites across the Kingdom.

Arabiyat added that facilitating the airlines was a result of joint efforts between the JTB and EasyJet, noting that EasyJet operates within the low-cost aviation system which provides basic services to passengers and contributes to an increase in trade and Investors’ transportation from and to Aqaba.
