Lower House delegation cancels Gaza visit

AMMAN — The parliamentary delegation planning to head to Gaza from Cairo on Saturday decided to return to Amman from the Egyptian capital after several unsuccessful attempts to continue their journey.
Deputy Yihya Saud, head of the delegation, said the Jordanian embassy in Cairo and Egyptian authorities told deputies that security personnel could not secure their route from El Arish to Rafah.
The road to the Rafah border crossing has witnessed successive explosions over the past few days, with a number of reported deaths and injuries.
The delegation was scheduled to enter Gaza last Wednesday.

The parliamentary delegation which was due to visit Gaza on Wednesday decided to delay its trip to the strip as a result of security conditions in northern Sinai.
