AMMAN — Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maaitah on Saturday inaugurated the Youth Forum for Training and Political Dialogue, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the ceremony, Maaitah said that the ministry developed a plan with the Ministry of Youth to hold sessions with young people in all governorates and universities to familiarise them with the most important recommendations related to youth and women of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System.
Maaitah stressed that the ministry will implement programmes to empower youth and women and include them in political life.
He said that the ministerial legal committee approved the draft laws on elections, parties and constitutional amendments received from the Royal Committee last Thursday and will be sent to the Cabinet on Sunday and then referred to Parliament.
During the forum, Maaitah presented some amendments relating to youth and women that came in the two bills, most notably reducing the age of election candidacy to 25 years, in addition to allocating a percentage of 20 of youth and 20 of women when establishing parties, in addition to increasing the number of minimum seats allocated to women within the Lower House and political parties.
