AMMAN — The Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO) on Wednesday said it is upgrading power networks in the southern governorate of Karak at a cost of JD2.7 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Maintenance workers will wash the insulators and remove accumulated dust, as well as replace cables and install substations to improve the current, said Sahem Majali, EDCO’s director in Karak.
The maintenance work aims to create an alternative current feed in case of power cuts at the grid feeders, Majali said. He added that 20 substations were installed around the governorate to address the weakness in the current resulting from the increasing load.
