Major dams now at 38 per cent capacity — Water ministry

AMMAN — The Kingdom's major dams now hold 38 per cent of their total storage capacity of 336.4 million cubic metres (mcm), the Water Ministry said on Wednesday.
The recent rainfall channelled over 10mcm of water into the country’s major dams, increasing storage at the dams to 130mcm, Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abul Saud said in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The minister noted that recent precipitation raised the overall precipitation seen since the start of the wet season to 73 per cent of Jordan’s long-term annual average rainfall of 8.1 billion cubic metres.
