AMMAN — Police on Wednesday are questioning a man who allegedly shot and killed his wife in Karak earlier in the day, official sources said.
The victim was allegedly shot once by her husband with a pump-action rifle while at home, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
“Initial investigations indicated the incident occurred over domestic dispute,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
The suspect reportedly headed to a nearby police station where he handed himself in, and turned over the weapon allegedly used in the shooting incident to officers on duty, the police official added.
A senior judicial source told The Jordan Times that the Criminal Court prosecutor began questioning the suspect and will summon the victims’ family members for questioning.
In a separate incident, a mother and her two daughters are recovering in hospital after reportedly being stabbed by their father on Tuesday in an Eastern Amman neighbourhood.
The three victims were reportedly stabbed at dawn on Tuesday while in their home in the Mugablein area, according to Sartawi.
“The three victims are currently being treated at a government hospital in Amman and are listed in fair condition,” the police official maintained.
Officers arrested the suspect, who is currently being questioned by police, according to Sartawi.
