AMMAN — Maritime passenger traffic between Aqaba and Egypt’s Nuweiba has returned to normal but with continued application of health protocols, Transport Ministry Secretary General Wissam Tahtamouni said.
In a press statement to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, on Sunday, Tahtamouni said that passenger traffic in both directions has returned to its pre-COVID state after more than a year of pandemic-related restrictions that were imposed to prevent the spread of the virus.
Tahtamouni pointed out that freight and flow of goods have been already made available on the maritime route that connects Jordan’s Aqaba port with Egypt’s Nuweiba port for months and in both directions.
Applied health protocols include PCR testing for passengers among other measures, according to Tahtamouni.
