AMMAN — The King Hussein Foundation’s Institute for Family Health has launched a mental health programme aimed to address stress and anxiety among adolescents and youth.

The programme, funded by Nuffic, a Dutch organisation that advocates for the internationalisation of education, was launched in cooperation with the University of New South Wales in Australia and the VU Amsterdam University, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The programme is the result of years of research and studies examining the efficiency of mental health intervention among adolescents.

The institute also said that programme officers underwent extensive training to guarantee the programme’s successful implementation and transfer to other organisations and institutions.

The programme consists of two components: one for individuals under the age of 18, and the other for those over the age of 18. The programme includes group and individual therapy sessions designed to provide psychological support and assistance.

Director of the Institute for Family Health Ibrahim Aqel noted that the programme seeks to create a rights-based environment that provides “distinguished” and inclusive healthcare.

According to Esther den Hartog of Nuffic, the programme is an easy-to-learn plan designed for non-specialists and does not require years of training in psychological support.
