Microsoft opens new global customer support hub in Amman

AMMAN — Software giant Microsoft opened a new global customer service and support hub in Amman on Thursday.
The new Customer Service and Support (CSS) Hub, one of only four similar Microsoft facilities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, is based in Microsoft Jordan’s headquarters in Amman, according to a statement released by the company on Saturday.
ICT Minister Majd Shweikeh and US Ambassador Alice G. Wells attended the CSS’s launch on Thursday.
“Jordan believes in the importance of the ICT sector as a key driver of the entire economy,” the statement quoted Shweikeh as saying, highlighting the Kingdom’s plans to become a “digital economy”.
The new CSS hub, Shweikeh said, “emphasises the Kingdom’s attractiveness as a catalyst for investment, as well as its potential to become a regional or even global leader in the telecommunications and technology sectors”.
Microsoft Jordan Country Manager Hussein Malhas added that “with further governmental support, this hub, which currently employs around 35 people, has the potential to provide hundreds of local software experts with quality, world-class jobs”.
The CSS Hub will provide in-depth technical troubleshooting for Microsoft’s most technically complex issues, according to the statement.
The CSS Hub is Microsoft’s second global setup in Jordan, in addition to the Enterprise Services Hub, from which local Microsoft Jordan engineers are dispatched to countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Both hubs are home to diverse teams of Jordanian men and women, including fresh university graduates from scientific, ICT and engineering backgrounds.
Many of their team members are also fluent in languages such as German, Turkish, Spanish and Russian, enhancing their capacity to serve global customers, Microsoft Jordan said.
