AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates’ spokesperson, Sufian Qudah, on Tuesday said that the ministry and the Jordanian Embassy in Tehran are following the situation of three Jordanians detained in Iran, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The three Jordanian detainees had entered Iranian territorial waters while on a fishing trip with their friends, the statement added. Qudah said that the Jordanian Embassy in Tehran is communicating with the detainees on a daily basis, adding that the acting ambassador met with the detainees and confirmed that they were in good health and being treated well by Iranian authorities.

He added that Jordan’s acting ambassador in Tehran also called on the Iranian authorities to officially and immediately release the Jordanian citizens, as they were guests on a boat which entered Iranian waters by accident.
