'Moderate air mass to lower temperatures across Kingdom'

AMMAN — Temperatures on Friday will fall below the annual average as a moderate air mass affects the country, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The moderate air mass, whose effects began on Thursday, is forecast to continue prevailing until Sunday, a JMD meteorologist said.

Temperatures from Friday to Sunday will be three to four Celsius degrees below the annual average of 30.5ºC-31ºC, according to the meteorologist.

Friday’s weather is expected to be moderate across the country, relatively hot in the badia and eastern plains and hot in the Dead Sea, Aqaba and the Jordan Valley, while winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk in the afternoon and will raise dust in the desert, according to the JMD.

Temperatures are forecast to be 28ºC during the day on Friday, dropping to 15ºC at night in the capital, the weather forecaster said.

A slight drop in temperatures is expected for Saturday, when the weather will be fair in mountainous areas and relatively hot across the country..

Winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk in the afternoon, raising dust in the desert, according to the forecast,  which predicted temperatures of 27ºC during the day and 15ºC at night in Amman.

The impact of the moderate air mass will continue on Sunday, according to the department, which indicated that the weather will remain fair in mountainous areas, relatively hot in the badia and eastern plains and hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Low altitude clouds are forecast, the meteorologist said, noting that temperatures will be 28ºC during the day, dropping to a low of 17ºC at night in Amman. Winds will be northwesterly moderate, turning to brisk in the afternoon and raising dust in the badia.
