AMMAN — Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is holding a conference titled “Antibiotic Resistance in the Middle East: Lessons Learned in the Prevention and Treatment of Multidrug-resistant Infections’’ at Al Quds International Hotel in Amman next week.
Over 80 experts in infection control from all over the world are attending the September 21-22conference, according to an MSF statement.
In its work in the region, MSF has encountered high concerns about antibiotic-resistant bacteria and hopes that the conference proceedings will lead to potential solutions that could be adapted to the Middle Eastern context, the statement said.
“Antibiotic-resistant infections represent a critical medical challenge in the Middle East region that undermines patient outcomes and increases cost of care,” the statement quoted MST Head of Mission for Jordan and Iraq Marc Schakal as saying.
