AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Wednesday met with the president and members of the Private Hospitals Association (PHA), according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
At the meeting, PHA President Fawzi Hammouri said Jordan ranks first in the region in the field of medical tourism and that the quality of treatment is the best at a cost considered to be cheap when compared to other regional markets.
On the challenges facing the sector, Hammouri cited the delay in issuing visas for nationals of several countries who visit for the purpose of treatment. He also mentioned the increase in electricity tariffs, which requires facilitating the establishment of solar-power stations. Mulki said the Energy Ministry is working on speeding up processing applications related to reducing the energy bill whether in private hospitals or other institutions.
