AMMAN — A joint team from the public security and gendarmerie departments raided four houses in the Northeastern Badia and arrested nine suspects wanted for fraud crimes against Jordanians and Arabs, the PSD announced Thursday.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) formed a special team to follow up on the cases, where the suspected fraudsters reportedly encouraged their victims to invest in fake projects and set an appointment to close the deal, a PSD statement said.
When victims went to the appointment, the suspects threatened them with guns and stole their money and belongings. The raids included heavy exchange of gunfire, but no injuries were reported. The team seized three pump-action rifles, ammunition, electronic devices, mobile phones and other items, according to the statement.
