AMMAN — Jordan’s oil bill dropped by JD600 million in 2023, marking a decrease of 16.9 per cent, compared with 2022, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Tuesday. According to DoS data, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the value of the oil bill went down from JD3.556 billion in 2022 to JD2.956 billion in 2023. The decline in the oil bill contributed to a 6 per cent fall in the value of the Kingdom's imports last year, which had a positive impact on reducing Jordan's trade deficit by 10 per cent. Mineral oils and fuels topped the list of Jordan’s oil imports, amounting to JD962 million, followed by crude oil at JD741 million. The Kingdom’s imports of diesel amounted to JD588 million, followed by gasoline at JD618 million, kerosene at JD9 million, and lubricants at JD38 million, according to DoS figures.
