PDTRA chief meets UNESCO representative

AMMAN — Chief Commissioner of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Suleiman Farajat and UNESCO Representative in Jordan Min Jeong Kim on Saturday went over ties between the two sides since 1985 and the joint achievements that have been accomplished with regard to the conservation of Petra.
The sustainable administration of tourism in Petra strives to balance protection of the site, development of tourism and engagement of local communities, according to a PDTRA statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
For her part, the UNESCO official expressed pride in PDTRA’s work that protects the site. Kim also checked the maintenance and rehabilitation works that the authority has recently carried during the pause in tourist activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
