PHA stresses private hospitals’ commitment to isolation protocols

AMMAN — The Private Hospitals Association (PHA) on Wednesday stressed the commitment of all private hospitals that receive and treat COVID-19 patients to the protocols to isolate virus patients from others.

Responding to a report on a media outlet about COVID-19 infections at a private hospital due to shortages in nursing staff, PHA President Fawzi Hammouri said that the private hospitals receiving COVID-19 patients allocate special nursing staff to only work in quarantine sections, according to a PHA statement.

Hammouri said that private hospitals suffer from shortages in nursing staff due to the high demand from the Health Ministry and Gulf countries for these trained staff, especially after the outbreak of the pandemic.

He added that the situation requires the cooperation of all stakeholders — including the Health Ministry, the Civil Service Bureau and the Jordan Nurses Association — to solve the problem of shortages in qualified and trained nursing staff.

He also stressed that all private hospitals are committed to applying regulations and preventive measures to control infections, so as to ensure providing safe healthcare for patients.

Hammouri noted that the problem of shortages in nursing staff has become a threat to the level of services presented to patients, and might harm the good reputation of the Kingdom’s health sector.
