AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Sunday met with President of the Arab Tourism Organisation Bandar Al Fahid, who is participating in the seventh Medical Tourism World Summit, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, which was attended by Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez, Khasawneh stressed that Jordan enjoys tourist, archaeological and medical potentials that qualify it to become a destination for various types of tourism.

Khaswneh also highlighted the importance of bolstering cooperation between Jordan and the Arab Tourism Organisation to launch tourism programmes that could attract more Arab tourists to Jordan.

He underlined Jordan’s reliance on the Arab Tourism Organisation's selection of Madaba as the Arab Capital of Tourism for 2022 to increase the number of Arab and foreign tourists.

The PM also referred to the governmental measures aimed to support tourism as it is one of the sectors that has been most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

However, he noted that the sector’s recovery is evident in recent statistics and indicators.

Fahid stressed that Jordan is one of the developed countries regionally and internationally in the field of medical and therapeutic tourism, highlighting Jordan’s ability to attract more tourism and tourism-related investments.

The organisation is currently developing programmes to promote medical tourism, he said, adding that Jordan is one of the main destinations for Arab medical and family tourism.
