AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Tuesday met with Ahmad Al Khatib and Maj. Gen. Ahmed Asiri, advisers to Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, who is also the second deputy prime minister and the minister of defence.

During the meeting, attended by King’s Special Envoy to Saudi Arabia Bassem Awadallah and Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani, Mulki highlighted the depth of the historic relations, nourished by His Majesty King Abdullah and Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The officials discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in economic fields, in addition to the opportunities available in the Jordanian economy.

The discussions also covered the strategic aspects of economic and investment cooperation, Petra reported.

Jordan and Saudi Arabia have earlier this year agreed to set up a coordination council that was followed by establishing the Jordan Investment Fund (JIF) under a law enacted for the purpose that offers special incentives to investors and specifies the projects targeted by the fund.

Awadallah had told Bloomberg that Saudi Arabia would invest billions in projects in Jordan.

However, the coordination council has not met yet and senior government officials have been in contact with Riyadh to activate the agreement and lure Saudi investments in the JIF.
