PM meets with UAE, Egypt and Bahrain ministers on sidelines of Higher Committee meeting

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Sunday welcomed the Emirati, Egyptian and Bahraini ministers participating in the third meeting of the Higher Committee of the Industrial Integration Partnership.

During the meeting, Khasawneh underscored the importance of the strategic effort sought by the Industrial Integration Partnership Initiative, which enjoys the support and attention of His Majesty King Abdullah,  King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The prime minister valued the “tireless efforts” of the ministers and their teams to establish new frameworks for joint cooperation to the benefit of the participating countries, such as the maximisation of their economies, reducing costs and creating jobs, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also referred to the importance of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed earlier in the meeting in terms of quantity and variety, expressing his hope that this initiative would be a first step towards creating other qualitative initiatives.

Khasawneh reiterated that the strategic initiative is open to all Arab countries, pointing to Bahrain’s recent welcoming into the initiative.

For their part, the ministers stressed the importance of the agreements and their completion in "record time", noting that the agreements signed on Sunday entail projects that serve the spirit of the initiative.

They noted that the achievement to date constitutes a "success story" for the participants in the initiative, which has the necessary elements for projects to succeed, including the human and financial resources, and geographical location and raw materials, stressing their commitment to hold meetings periodically, the next of which will be held in Bahrain this year.

The UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and its Special Envoy for Climate Change Sultan Al Jaber; Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade Ahmed Saleh; Bahraini Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla Adel Fakhro; Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali; and UAE Ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Khalifa Bin Mohammed Bin Khalid Al Nahyan attended the meeting.
