AMMAN — A country with a focus on social solidarity, in accordance with His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision, tops the government’s priorities, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said on Thursday.
The government, in partnership with the private sector, will meet the food demand anticipated during the holy month of Ramadan at moderate prices, he said.
Razzaz made these remarks while chairing a meeting at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply with representatives of the respective segments of the private sector.
The meeting was organised to check on the measures taken to ensure that basic commodities and popular foods which are usually in high demand during Ramadan remain affordable, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Razzaz commended the public and private sectors’ coordination and cooperative efforts to control market prices in order to meet demand during Ramadan, according to the statement carried by Petra.
He underlined the vitality of monitoring the market and surveillance to ensure the affordability of seasonable consumables in Ramadan, the news agency added.
The meeting also addressed the establishment of traditional markets and bazaars during the fasting month to serve all segments of society, Petra pointed out.
On the prices of fuel derivatives during Ramadan, Razzaz said that any increase in oil prices due to the international market would be at minimal levels.
