AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh received Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi and an accompanying delegation on Thursday in the presence of Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs, Ibrahim Jazi, and Jordanian Ambassador to Muscat, Amjad Al Qahiwi, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Khasawneh stressed the depth of the “brotherly and historical” relations between the two countries, and the mutual and continuous keenness to strengthen them in order to achieve the visions and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
He also stressed the importance of the meetings of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Committee, which were held in Amman on Thursday under the chairmanship of the foreign ministers of both countries, and its role in reaching tangible results through the signing of several agreements reflecting the interests of the two countries and their people.
Khasawneh praised the prudent policy of the Sultanate of Oman and its efforts in dealing with many regional and international issues.
The prime minister also spoke with the Omani foreign minister about developments in the region, a number of regional and international issues and efforts to resolve crises in the region, especially with regard to the Palestinian issue. Khasawneh stressed the importance of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the issue that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The two ministers stressed their countries' rejection of the Israeli occupation’s aggression against the Palestinian people and the unilateral Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories, affirming the need to preserve the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
For his part, the Omani foreign minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to His Majesty King Abdullah, and his wishes for further progress and prosperity for Jordan, in addition to His Majesty's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations to serve the interests of the two countries and peoples.
The Omani foreign minister affirmed his country's appreciation for Jordan’s efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, in a difficult regional environment, expressing confidence in Jordan's ability to overcome challenges.
Khasawneh was briefed by both foreign ministers on the work of the Jordanian-Omani Joint Committee, during which cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries.
