AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz on Saturday delivered a voice message to the people of Irbid to convey the entire Kingdom’s support for the governorate under lockdown.
“Our family and loved ones in Irbid — people of honour, love, hard work, faith, culture, literature and poetry — all of Jordan supports you,” the PM said in the message.
“Medical staff in the governorate are performing exceptionally, exerting huge efforts supported by the Ministry of Health, the Royal Medical Services and the Civil Defence Department around the Kingdom,” he continued.
Razzaz said that the governorate and the municipalities are “doing their part”, adding that security services, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the police are ensuring public safety and security.
“We all come together to embrace Irbid and protect it, just like the body’s organs protect each other,” the prime minister stressed.
He noted that, with everyone’s effort, Jordan will succeed in containing the spread of the pandemic, adding that the government will support any Jordanian governorate, city, town or neighbourhood in which the pandemic appears with “vigour and determination to stay ahead of the virus’ spread”.
Razzaz said that His Majesty King Abdullah called on Saturday morning to follow up on proceedings and developments in regard to the virus and to make sure that everyone is healthy and safe in Irbid and other areas.
“We say to His Majesty that we are proud of our Hashemite leadership, which has always put the people at the top of its priorities, and that we are proud of our aware people,” he added.
The prime minister concluded: “Protecting you is our purpose, and your commitment is our means. These hard times shall pass.”
