AMMAN — Police on Monday were searching for a suspect in connection with the stabbing death of a 36-year-old teacher a day before.
The victim, who worked as a teacher in Saudi Arabia, was found murdered near his vehicle that was parked in a deserted area in Irbid, some 80km north of Amman, a senior official source said.
“The victim received a single stab wound to the neck, but the murder weapon was not found,” the official source told The Jordan Times.
He added that police do not have any motive yet, “but there is a possible suspect”.
“We have a possible suspect in mind and we are currently examining the victim’s mobile data for possible leads,” the official source said.
A post-mortem conducted by a team of pathologists in Irbid, headed by Ali Shotar, concluded that the victim died of heavy bleeding as a result of the stab wound to the neck, a medical source said.
“The knife hit a major vein that caused heavy bleeding,” the medical source told The Jordan Times.
The victim lived and worked in Saudi Arabia and was visiting the Kingdom with his wife, the official source said.
Public Security Department Spokesperson Maj. Amer Sartawi was unavailable to comment on the incident.
