AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan, president of the Arab Thought Forum (ATF), on Thursday chaired the forum’s 27th annual general assembly meeting.
During the event, which coincided with the ATF's 40th anniversary (1981-2021), Prince Hassan called for renewing Arab intellectual discourse through setting evidence-based policies, promoting analytical and critical thinking, as well as opening responsible dialogue "that does not upset the objectivity of any issue".
The prince also highlighted the importance of "overarching policies", noting that "thinking about the future of thought must be artful in handling the key issues".
He also highlighted the importance of accepting difference that leads to generating more effective and interconnected ideas.
At the end of the event, the prince honoured the founding members of the forum, who were the ATF's first board of trustees in 1981, including 24 pioneers in developmental thought from several Arab countries.
ATF Secretary General of the Forum Mohammed Abu Hammour handed a certificate of appreciation and honour to Prince Hassan in recognition of his contributions over the years to realise the forum's motto "Belonging and Development", as well as in serving the causes of Arab and Muslim nations, human values, the spirit of solidarity and joint Arab action.
