Prince hails Marka zone as 'good example of creativity-based achievement'

AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan, the chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology, on Monday visited the Eastern Amman Investors Industrial Association (EAIIA) and some factories, where he had a firsthand look at production lines and cutting-edge technologies used in the manufacturing process.

In his address at EAIIA, Prince Hassan highlighted the importance of industry, which represents “an institutional self-determination”, praising the capability of the national industrial sector for its excellence in its “internationally recognised achievements”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Speaking about the industrial zone in Marka, he described it as “a good example of action, creativity-based achievement, communication and integration”, calling for conducting survey studies for activities that have been designed to stimulate stability in industries in the zone. 

As for the challenges facing the sector, the Prince stressed the importance of developing a creative, flexible and comprehensive plan that conforms to the major economies that are quickly responsive to changes.

He also called for investing in human resources management system.

For his part, EAIIA President Muhammad Saudi said that factories established in the Marka zone are considered "the basis of the Jordanian industry", noting that the industries in the zone are interrelated. 

EAIIA Deputy President Iyad Abu Haltam reviewed "the pillars" of the Kingdom’s industrial sector that accounts for 25 per cent of the gross domestic product and 60 per cent of the direct foreign investments in the country.
