AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma bint Talal on Wednesday attended the opening of the "Efforts of Hands" exhibition in Aqaba, and the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Princess Basma Centre for Development in Aqaba, an affiliate of the Jordan Hashemite Human Development Fund (JOHUD), and the Aqaba Governorate Council.

During the ceremony, Princess Basma emphasised JOHUD’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations and needs of local communities, which aligns with the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah towards achieving comprehensive and sustainable development across all sectors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Princess Basma also noted that the partnership with the Aqaba Governorate Council strengthens the ongoing alliances between JOHUD and various national institutions in both the public and private sectors, aiming to contribute to community development and improve the living and economic conditions for families, individuals, and the broader society.

She also commended the role of civil society institutions in meeting the requirements of community development and hailed the efforts of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and other institutions in establishing and supporting development projects.

Highlighting the tourism and economic significance of Aqaba, Princess Basma underscored the continuous support and oversight from the King to bolster Aqaba's role in improving the national economy,  pointing out that Aqaba is a "hub" for attracting Arab and foreign investments and is a leading tourist destination in the region.
