Princess Basma attends Independence Day event for girl guides, leaders

AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Jordanian Association for Boy Scouts and Girl Guides (JABSGG), on Thursday attended the “Independence Meeting’’.

The meeting, organised by the Ministry of Education’s Directorate of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, marked the occasion of Independence Day, bringing together 300 girl guides and leaders from education directorates, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Friday. 

Addressing the meeting, Princess Basma emphasised that commemorating independence renews Jordanians’ hope and determination to work towards further progress, accomplishments and nation building, despite the prevailing circumstances and challenges.

The princess further recognised the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Education and the JABSGG in supporting and enhancing the presence of the scout movement in both public and private schools. 

Princess Basma commended the leaders and guides who participated in the meeting, as well as members of the Jordanian scout and guide movement, for their continuous commitment to its development. 

The Independence Meeting, held at the Princess Basma Scout Camp in Debin, included a wide range of engaging activities, from interactive discussions on the significance of independence, the pivotal role of the Hashemite family in developing a modern Jordan, promoting citizenship, encouraging dialogue, accepting others’ perspectives, environmental awareness, guiding skills, the importance of volunteerism and community service, tree planting initiatives, as well as sports and cultural competitions.
