AMMAN — The Public Security Department (PSD) said on Tuesday it will carry out a comprehensive campaign during the Eid Al Fitr holiday to safeguard the security of Jordan’s citizens, residents and visitors.
A plan to facilitate traffic flow will be implemented to alleviate congestion within areas that witness road jams at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan when people go out to buy Eid necessities, the PSD said.
Moreover, the plan will facilitate traffic movement near mosques around the Kingdom, especially in the morning of the first day when people go out to perform Eid prayer.
Police patrols will also be stationed at residential, commercial and recreational areas, the statement said.
Eid Al Fitr, the feast marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, is due to start Friday or Saturday, depending on the sighting of the moon of the new lunar month of Shawwal.
All ministries and public departments will be off from Friday, July 17, to Monday, July 20, in observance of the Eid holiday.
During Eid, Jordanians traditionally visit friends and relatives to exchange good wishes.
The PSD called on the public to cooperate with security personnel, abide by traffic regulations, lock their houses when go out, watch their children and keep them away from streets, and protect their valuables.
