PSD marks International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate on Wednesday marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and  Illicit Trafficking under the theme "Sacrifices Continue."  The ceremony, which was attended by Public Security Directorate (PSD) Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah, included a workshop tackling  the new preventive strategy for combating drugs. Representatives from the ministries of youth, education, higher education, and  social development, as well as delegates from public institutions, participated in the workshop.

The workshop yielded a number of recommendations that will be put into action in the field of community prevention, mainly  to raise awareness among various segments of society about the dangers of drugs. Maaytah commended the sacrifices made by the Anti Narcotic Department personnel and police, to combat all forms of drug trafficking,   and stressed the importance of sustaining these efforts and staying abreast of the evolving methods employed in drug smuggling and trafficking.
