AMMAN — The spokesperson of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Friday said that it has responded to a video of a mother beating her infant in Zarqa and “took the proper measures” to act according to the child’s best interest. He said the video reached the department on November 7, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
An investigation was opened and the child and his siblings were shown to a physician and were found to be in good health. The mother was arrested and admitted to beating her child after questioning.
She was referred to the Attorney General, who decided to hold her for a week on a charge of abuse.
The spokesperson added that the children were handed to their father and grandfather after arranging periodical visits and guaranteeing their safety in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development.
