PSUT’s Haija appointed global evaluator for engineering programmes

AMMAN — The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) has granted Vice President for Academic Affairs at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) Prof. Wejdan Abu Al Haija an international evaluation certificate for engineering programmes, making her the first person in Jordan to obtain such certification.
ABET evaluates engineering programmes and specialisations through work teams that include scientists and experts, according to a PSUT statement.
Haija is Jordan’s first female professor of Electrical Engineering. She became the country’s first female dean of Engineering when she was appointed Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering at PSUT, the statement said.
Haija holds a Doctor of Science degree in Engineering and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University, Belfast.
For over 80 years, ABET has been a non-profit organisation owned and operated by more than 25 scientific and engineering professional societies in the US, involving more than 1,500 academic and industry professionals around the world, with a mission to develop high-quality standards for engineering education, the statement said.
