AMMAN — Labour Minister and Minister of State for Investment Affairs Maen Qatamin and Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Akmad Sakkam on Wednesday met over joint cooperation in labour field. Qatamin, during the meeting, highlighted the ministry’s keenness on regulating the labour market to safeguard the rights of Jordanian and foreign workers.
The Philippine envoy commended the Kingdom’s anti-coronavirus efforts, notably exempting non-Jordanian workers who left the country from work permit fees and reducing fines for expired work permits of foreign workers wishing to stay in Jordan by 80 per cent.
Hailing bilateral ties, the diplomat said that Amman provides jobs for a large number of foreign workers from the Philippines, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
