AMMAN — Her Majesty Queen Rania presented awards to the winners of the 2023-2024 cycle of the Queen Rania Award for Excellence in Education (QRAEE) at the Royal Cultural Palace in Amman on Wednesday, in recognition of their distinguished contributions to education in Jordan.

In her capacity as chairperson of the QRAEE Board of Trustees, Her Majesty handed trophies and certificates to the recipients of the 18th edition of the Distinguished Teacher Award, the eighth edition of the Distinguished Principal Award, the fourth edition of the Excellence-Supporting Directorate Awards, and the first edition of the Distinguished Kindergarten Award, according to a statement from Office of Her Majesty.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research Azmi Mahafzah highlighted the importance of creativity and commitment among both educators and administrators. He also noted, as nations around the world race to develop their human capital to compete in the global knowledge economy, education must keep up with social, cultural, and scientific advancements, the statement said.

During her remarks, Executive Director of the QRAEE Association, Lubna Toukan, expressed her pride in all the winners, particularly recipients of the first-ever Distinguished Kindergarten Award, describing them as models for other public kindergartens to follow. She also underscored the important role that kindergarten teachers and staff play in building children's competencies and their sense of responsibility during this important developmental stage, according to the statement.

This year’s winners were chosen from among more than 6,000 applicants from the local public education sector. In addition to the winning teachers, principals, kindergartens, and educational directorates, certificates of appreciation were provided to 10 teachers and five principals at the national level, as well as 16 teachers and four principals at the directorate level.

The event was attended by approximately 1,800 educators representing every educational directorate, as well as the QRAEE board of directors, partner organizations, supporters from the private and public sectors, media figures, and members of the evaluation committee, the statement said.

In addition to monetary awards, winners and recipients of certificates of appreciation are also eligible for non-monetary incentives from QRAEE, provided in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, private sector institutions, academic and educational establishments, and media organizations. These incentives aim to assist the winners in their professional, academic, and educational development.
