Razzaz mourns passing of Inaam Mufti: first woman to hold gov’t position

AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday mourned the passing of former minister of social development Inaam Mufti, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The prime minister recalled Mufti’s “great services” to her homeland in all the positions she held. Mufti was the first Jordanian woman to hold a governmental position.
She held the post of minister of social development from 1979 to 1984, and served as the development affairs and international relations adviser to Her Majesty Queen Noor.
She also contributed to the establishment and management of the Noor Al Hussein Foundation and was a member of the National Consultative Council and a member of the Senate.
Mufti held the Kawkab Medal of the First Order and a Medal of the First Order from His Majesty the King of Sweden.
