Razzaz, Qatar minister meeting centres on Doha job initiative

AMMAN — Jordan is keen on developing its "historical" ties with Qatar and expanding them in all fields in a way that benefits both countries and their peoples, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said on Tuesday.

During a meeting with Qatari Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Yousuf Bin Mohammed Al Othman Fakhroo, Razzaz expressed the Kingdom's appreciation for Doha's support of Jordanians through allocating 10,000 jobs for them in the Qatari market, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The prime minister highlighted Jordan's progress in several sectors, mainly in presenting remote services to major companies and institutions, highlighting Jordanians’ expertise and high levels of training.

Labour Minister Nidal Bataineh reviewed coordination and cooperation aspects with Qatar in the fields of attracting the Jordanian workforce and benefitting from both labour ministries' expertise in human resources.

A suggestion was proposed during the meetings to open a Qatari centre in Amman to facilitate visa procedures for Jordanians who receive jobs in Qatar, with the aim of institutionalising procedures for attracting Jordanian employees and contracts.

For his part, Fakhroo conveyed Qatari Prime Minister Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani's greetings to Razzaz, as well as his keenness to sustain coordination and consultation between Doha and Amman.

The Qatari minister also voiced his country's eagerness to increase jobs available for Jordanians in a way that contributes to developing various sectors in the Gulf country, expressing aspirations to benefit from Jordanian expertise in implementing Qatari projects.
