AMMAN — The recent rainfall has increased water reserves in sand dams and rainwater harvesting wells to 70 per cent, Minister of Agriculture Khalid Hneifat said on Wednesday. Speaking during a panel session with the private sector and media outlets, Hneifat highlighted the ministry’s efforts to establish a comprehensive national rainwater harvesting project to alleviate the impacts of climate change, notably water scarcity caused by fluctuating rainfall, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. A total of 63 dams and rainwater harvesting wells were constructed in 2022, bringing the total number of water-harvesting systems to 163, he noted.
