Recent rainfall channels 2.64mcm into Kingdom's dams

AMMAN — A total of 2.642 million cubic metres of rainwater (mcm) have entered dams over the past 24 hours, including 2mcm that entered Al Mujib Dam, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI) said on Saturday. The total storage in dams after the recent downpour increased to 36.8mcm, accounting for 13.13 per cent of their total storage of 280.76mcm, the ministry said in a statement, noting that storage in the same period last year stood at 38mcm.
The rainfall since the beginning of the season increased to some 1.510 billion cubic metres of the annual average, constituting 18.4 per cent of the annual average of 8.1bcm. The highest rainfall was recorded in the Qatraneh-Suwaga area over the past 24 hours, amounting to 18.5mcm. The total amount of downpour over the past 24 hours in the Kingdom is 32.4mcm, including Karak receiving 12.5mcm, Amman 8.5mcm, Tafileh 7.5mcm, Maan 1.5mcm, Aqaba 0.7mcm and Madaba 1.3mcm.
