Regent discusses regional developments with Japanese minister

AMMAN — HRH Prince Feisal, the Regent, on Monday met with Japanese Minister of State for Regulatory Reform and Chairperson of the National Public Safety Commission Taro Kono, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, held at the Royal Court, Prince Feisal stressed the importance of enhancing relations with Japan, which he described as “one of the most significant supporters of Jordan in all fields”, enabling it to face challenges and achieve sustainable development.
Prince Feisal and Kono discussed regional and international developments and efforts exerted to combat terrorism.
Meanwhile, the Japanese minister commended the Kingdom’s progress in different fields, highlighting its vital role in dealing with regional issues.
Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, King’s Office Director Jafar Hassan and Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Shuichi Sakurai attended the meeting, according to Petra.
Also on Monday, Interior Minister Salameh Hammad met with Kono and an accompanying delegation from the Japanese police, and discussed developments in the region as well as ways to enhance cooperation, especially with regards to security.
Hammad presented his ministry’s work mechanism around the Kingdom.
The interior minister said combating terrorism and extremism requires a joint international effort, highlighting the Kingdom’s safety and stability.
Kono voiced his country’s support for Jordan in all political, economic and security matters.
Public Sector Development Minister Yasera Ghosheh also met with Kono and the accompanying delegation at her office, and discussed means of cooperation in the field of public sector development.
She also briefed the delegation on the work of her ministry and delivered a presentation on the methods of evaluating the services provided to the public.
The two officials agreed to cooperate and exchange expertise in the fields of evaluating services and training.
