Regent visits Independent Election Commission

AMMAN — HRH Prince Feisal, the Regent, on Tuesday visited the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and checked on the measures taken to ensure smooth polls, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

During a meeting with IEC President Khaled Kalaldeh, Prince Feisal commended the efforts of the commission’s cadres in administering the electoral process, highlighting His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives to facilitate voting. 

The prince was briefed on the progress of the vote and Kalaldeh presented the upcoming stages between polls closing and the announcement of results, including tabulation and auditing. 

Prince Feisal checked on the main operations room at the IEC and the methods of communicating with polling stations around the Kingdom to obtain accurate information. 

He also observed how IEC teams deal with technical and legal inquiries from polling stations and monitoring groups, which are answered in coordination with the concerned authorities. 

Kaladeh told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that Prince Feisal was briefed on all positive and negative information the IEC dealt with, noting that some 80,000 people are involved as volunteers or members of the monitoring, tabulation and support committees, while more than 50,000 police and gendarmerie personnel are supporting the polls.
